The Dengler Hof has been a family-run organic farm in Hohenberg an der Eger in the Fichtelgebirge, Bavaria, since 1971. For generations, the farm has been picturesquely situated on a south-eastern slope in the horseshoe-shaped Fichtelgebirge – a spot on earth that offers peace and tranquillity.
Biodynamic agriculture
The farm is run with a colorful livestock as it was 100 years ago. The 10 hectares around the property serve as a feed base and exercise area for the animals. They produce important humus, which serves as a natural fertilizer – a closed cycle.
Rare backwoods cows
The Dengler farm is home to the endangered Hinterwälder cows. This smallest cattle breed in Europe grazes on our mountain pastures without trampling damage thanks to its light weight and strong foundation.
Working horses in agriculture
Our horses have a real job: they work under the saddle, in front of the cart and in agriculture and forestry. The wood for our hand-built chalets was harvested by horse from our own forest – stored for 8 years and then glued on the farm.
Adventures for all ages
Our horses are a big part of our farm. They are perfectly trained for riding, carriage, or sleigh rides. Hike with the children in the beautiful surroundings and experience pure nature. Our 100,000 sqm property features 15 ponds fed by two springs with drinking water quality. The river "Eger" is just a 2-minute walk from the farm.
